Meals on Wheels

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

WRVS volunteers deliver 1,560 meals per year to the Wrea Green area, in partnership with the local authority. They are part of a team of over 100,000 volunteers, male and female, helping the vulnerable people in our community every day.

Meals on Wheels volunteers work in pairs – a driver and a helper. Access to a vehicle is not essential as the WRVS vehicle is available.

Most of these men and women give just a couple of hours every six weeks to support this vital service and, in doing so, provide more than a meal: a friendly face, a welcome chat and a window on the outside world.

In return – new friends are made and new skills learned, rewarded by the gratitude of those they are helping.

Training is provided for volunteers and any out-of-pocket expenses are paid.
