Spate Of Fylde Burglaries

POLICE patrols have been stepping up in certain areas of the Fylde following a spate of burglaries. Two homes in Newton, two in Clifton, one in Lytham and one in Wesham have been targeted over the last three nights, with the offenders mainly forcing open patio or conservatory doors in order to get into the property.

Laptops, mobile phones and car keys are amongst the items taken by the thieves.

Patrols have now been increased in these areas, particularly during the evening, and letter drops are taking place, with officers delivering information about the importance of home security.

Sgt Peter Hannon, Fylde police, said: “As always we would ask residents to ensure they lock their doors and windows when they leave their homes or go to bed, and to keep valuable items out of sight so that they don’t create a temptation for thieves.

“It is also important that if people see something suspicious – such as unknown vehicles driving around or strangers entering gardens or going around the back of properties – that they report it to us as this could prevent a crime from taking place.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101. In an emergency always dial 999.
