New Chief Inspector takes over at Fylde

Blackpool and Fylde have welcomed a new Chief Inspector. CI John Jennings-Wharton will be responsible for Response Policing across Blackpool and Fylde.

CI Jennings-Wharton started his career with Lancashire Constabulary back in 1997 as a Public Enquiry Assistant and Special Constable at Clitheroe.

In 2001, CI Jennings-Wharton joined as a Police Constable based in Blackburn and remained there until he specialised within Tactical Operations, formerly known as Traffic. This included being appointed as a Family Liaison Officer, for which he has been nationally recognised for his commitment in this field.

During this time, CI Jennings-Wharton led numerous investigations into road death, for which he is extremely proud of the justice he has helped secure for the victims of road death and their families.

Since moving to West Division in April 2020, CI Jennings-Wharton has carried out roles in Response and Neighbourhood Policing across Blackpool, Lancaster and Morecambe.

During his most recent role as Geographic Inspector for Neighbourhood Policing in Blackpool South, CI Jennings-Wharton gained a wealth of experience including forging strong links with local partners.

CI Jennings-Wharton is excited to take on this new role. He said: “I have really enjoyed getting stuck into what affects our communities and working with a multitude of partners to help solve ongoing problems for all the good, law-abiding citizens of Blackpool and Fylde.

“It has been a huge learning curve but a very enjoyable one – during which I have worked with some amazing people, and I am looking forward to using these skills within the Response policing function to ensure we remain victim focused.

“I am very proud to be joining the Senior Management Team at West Division, and I am really looking forward to working alongside and supporting the Response teams that provide around the clock protection to our most vulnerable people in society and doing everything we can to bring offenders to justice”.

Former Response Chief Inspector for Blackpool and Fylde, CI Dave Hannan, will be moving to Lancaster, Morecambe and Wyre Neighbourhood Policing and Partnerships.
