A new digital evidence management system to help police deter and solve crimes quicker and they need you and other residents and businesses to register your CCTV cameras or video doorbells with them.
The NICE Investigate Community Portal makes it really easy for you to send us footage (including large data files in a wide variety of formats) if a crime or incident has taken place and also helps the police identify which of your cameras may have evidential footage so you can get the right files to an Investigating Officer as quickly as possible. The service is free of charge and entirely voluntary. By registering with the portal you are not giving Lancashire Constabulary access to your CCTV system or any cameras – you are simply making it easier for us to request and collect footage which may really help us in an investigation – the only footage we will ever have access to is the footage you send to us. We’ve already had over 300 people/businesses sign up, equating to hundreds of cameras in our county now on the system. What are the benefits? You’ll have peace of mind and in the unfortunate event a crime is committed, you’ll be able to send us your evidence far quicker, meaning we can bring more offenders to justice. If you want to register a camera, just pop an e-mail to [email protected] Please also have a look at our website here https://www.lancashire.police.uk/contact-us/register-your-camera/ for lots more information and frequently asked questions. Thanks in anticipation of your help and support – please use the share button at the bottom of this alert to forward it to family/friends or share it on social media. |
